Yet, as was the case for the rest of the world, the sudden turn of events brought on by the pandemic created unanticipated challenges...Stephen Anderson decided to use the new-found time to hibernate in the compositional woodshed, and began composing several new works that draw on various folkloric rhythms and concepts from different parts of the Dominican Republic that Guy Frometa, David Almengod, and Sandy Gabriel had hipped him to. Carlos Luis had previously composed two beautiful ballads that would be used for the project--and they would draw from Guillo Cariasx27 library of originals, recording his beautiful tune, Si Tu Supieras. Recorded with producer Danny Greenspoon at Canterbury Sound in Toronto, Joels second album Melodrama features a band that matches Joels sizable talent: guitarist Kevin Breit (Norah Jones), keyboardist Gary Breit (Bryan Adams), drummer Gary Craig (Bruce Cockburn), bassist George Koller (Peter Gabriel), and with background vocals by Kathryn Rose and Susie Vinnick. Sometimes I go as far away as Europe, Thailand, New Zealand or Palestine, and for twelve years I lived all over the United States. But no matter how far I go I always feel like a Canadian away from home. That Canadian-ness goes so deep that it even informs the music I make. Thus, Ive come to the following conclusion: There is something Canadian about Canadian music. The problem is, we Canadians are programmed to look outward for international acceptance before we recognize the value of what is produced right here on our own permafrost. Initially they were a duo, consisting of brothers Larry Cassidy and Vincent Cassidy). In June 1978 they made their live debut with Phil Denton on guitar. Their debut 7x26#34;, x26#34;Girls Donx27t Countx26#34;, was released in July 1980 on Factory Records, produced by Ian Curtis and Rob Gretton of Joy Division. Joined by percussionist Lee Shallcross, Section 25 gradually evolved with a more electronic-dance direction from 1983 onwards, a process which culminated in the album From the Hip and remix single x26#34;Looking From A Hilltopx26#34;, both released in 1984 and produced by Bernard Sumner of New Order. This second iteration of the band also featured the Cassidy brothersx27 sister Angela Flowers and Larry Cassidyx27s wife Jenny Ross. In 1986 Section 25 fell silent for more than a decade, and reemerged with the album Part Primitiv in 2006. On 27 February 2010, it was announced that founding member, singer, and bass player for the group, Larry Cassidy, had died at the age of 56. Today, Section 25 consist of Vin Cassidy and long-time collaborator Steven Stringer. Jams From The Bardo is an archival collection of previously unreleased rehearsal room recordings from 1979 to 1981.
