Book : Desire: The Tantric Path to Awakening - Daniel Odier

-Titulo Original : Desire: The Tantric Path To Awakening-Fabricante : Inner Traditions-Descripcion Original: • Explains how the primal energy generated by physical desire can be used to achieve enlightenment • Reveals the techniques used by Tantric adepts to attain mastery over breath, thought, and all physical processes Nothing can match the explosive energy created in the body by pure desire. For millennia, Tantric adepts have harnessed this force as a means of attaining the summits of the mystical life. The energies fueled by passion are used to nourish the inner flame that burns away the egotistical perception of the mind. Desire explores the subtle techniques of Tantra that enable the seeker to attain the triple mastery of the breath, thought, and the natural processes of the body. Tantrics believe that the body is the temple and divinity lies at its heart. In order to arrive at profound awareness, the body needs to be perfectly tuned and working toward a state of perfect fluidity. Desire reveals many of the secret practices intended for this purpose that have been passed down in the major Tantric treatises such as the Vijnanabhariva Tantra and Ch'an master Chinul's treatise on the Secrets of Cultivating the Mind, including the important techniques of the ritual sexual observances known as Maithuna...

Book : Taliesin: The Last Celtic Shaman - John Matthews

-Titulo Original : Taliesin: The Last Celtic Shaman-Fabricante : Inner Traditions-Descripcion Original: A new translation of the poems of sixth-century Celtic bard and shaman Taliesin that reveals the mysteries of Druidic practices. • The first collection of Taliesin's major poetry with commentary by John Matthews, author of more than 40 books on the Celts. • Reveals Druidic prophecy, methods of divination, and the rites, rituals, and beliefs that were essential to Celtic spiritual practice. • Features Taliesin's works as keys to the Arthurian legends. Taliesin, Chief Bard of Britain and Celtic shaman, was a historical figure who lived in Wales during the latter half of the sixth century. Encoded within his work are the ancestral beliefs of the Celtic and pre-Celtic peoples. In addition, his verse is established as a direct precursor to the Arthurian Legends--and Taliesin himself, shaman and shapeshifter, is said to be the direct forebear to Merlin. Though the bard's work is steeped in the rich traditions of druidic practice, few have explored the revelations of his writings--the secret poetic language of the bards, revelatory information about divination, the ancient mysteries of the Druids, and the cosmological rites that were central to Celtic worship. John Matthews, one of today's preeminent Celtic scholars, sheds new light on the poems of Taliesin and on the vast body of allusion, story, and myth that grew from his body of work and shamanic practice. With the help of fellow Celtic scholar Caitlin Matthews, the author presents completely new translations of Taliesin's major poems in their entirety, uncovering the meanings behind these great works for the first time...

Book : Three Books Of Occult Philosophy - Agrippa, Heinrich.

-Titulo Original : Three Books Of Occult Philosophy-Fabricante : Inner Traditions-Descripcion Original: The first new and complete English translation of Agrippa’s classic masterwork in more than 350 years * Three hardcover volumes in slipcase * Corrects the many mistranslations, copyist mistakes, and errors introduced from other editions, drawing on new research and access to Agrippa’s source texts * Restores all of Agrippa’s original illustrations * Presents a nearly complete bibliography of Agrippa’s primary sources One of the most important texts in the Western magical tradition for nearly 500 years, Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa’s 1533 work Three Books of Occult Philosophy collates a multitude of sources from the Classical, Medieval, and Renaissance periods and organizes them into a coherent explanation of the magical world. Divided into three parts--the natural world, the celestial world, and the divine world--the book systematically explains the philosophy, logic, and methods of magic and astrology and how they work. The basis for 19th-century magical orders such as the Golden Dawn and a primary source for countless books on magical uses of stones, herbs, incense, and astrology, Agrippa’s many lists and diagrams have proven invaluable to magicians since the 16th century. Yet, until now, all English editions of Agrippa’s Three Books were based on the same flawed 1651 translation from the mysterious “J.F.” In this new translation from the original 1533 Latin edition, Eric Purdue corrects the many mistranslations, copyist mistakes, and errors introduced from other editions as well as restores all of Agrippa’s original illustrations. Purdue notates every correction and offers commentary, drawing on major developments in the research of older magical and astrological texts. He also presents a nearly complete bibliography of Agrippa’s primary sources, revealing Agrippa as a mainstream scholar of his day. Presenting the first new English translation of Three Books of Occult Philosophy in more than 350 years, this three-volume hardcover boxed set repairs the gaps in knowledge pervasive in the original translation and restores the magical spirit of Agrippa’s masterpiece, allowing us to hear Agrippa speak again. About the Author HEINRICH CORNELIUS AGRIPPA von Nettesheim (1486-1535) was a German polymath, physician, legal scholar, soldier, theologian, and occult writer. Entering the University of Cologne at the age of 13, he graduated with a Master of Arts at 16 and went on to study with abbot Johannes Trithemius, famous as the teacher of Paracelsus. Acclaimed for his lectures on Reuchlin and the Corpus Hermeticum at universities across Europe, Agrippa acted as archivist for the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. Defying accusations of heresy and scrutiny by the Inquisition of Cologne, he published the final version of Three Books of Occult Philosophy two years before his death. Agrippa is considered one of the most influential occultists of the early modern period. ERIC PURDUE has studied metaphysics and the occult and has practiced magic and astrology for more than thirty years, with a particular focus on practical folk and astrological magic. Through his lectures and writings on traditional astrology and talismanic magic, he has been a notable voice on the subjects of medieval astrology, traditional magical systems, and the legacy of Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa. His new translation of Three Books of Occult Philosophy was more than 10 years in the making. Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. From Book Two. Book : Wetiko Healing The Mind-virus That Plagues Our World.

-Titulo Original : Wetiko: Healing The Mind-Virus That Plagues Our World-Fabricante : Inner Traditions-Descripcion Original: How to break free from the collective mind parasite of wetiko * Explores how wetiko covertly operates both out in the world and within our minds and how it underlies every form of self-destruction, both individual and collective * Reveals how wetiko’s power lies in our blindness to it and examines how people across the ages have symbolized wetiko to help see it and heal it * Examines the concept of wetiko as it appears in the teachings of the Kabbalah, Hawaiian Kahuna shamanism, mystical Christianity, and the work of C. G. Jung In its Native American meaning, wetiko is an evil cannibalistic spirit that can take over people’s minds, leading to selfshness, insatiable greed, and consumption as an end in itself, destructively turning our intrinsic creative genius against our own humanity. Revealing the presence of wetiko in our modern world behind every form of destruction our species is carrying out, both individual and collective, Paul Levy shows how this mind-virus is so embedded in our psyches that it is almost undetectable--and it is our blindness to it that gives wetiko its power. Yet, as Levy reveals in striking detail, by recognizing this highly contagious mind parasite, by seeing wetiko, we can break free from its hold and realize the vast creative powers of the human mind. Levy explores how artists, philosophers, and spiritual traditions across the ages have been creatively symbolizing this deadly pathogen of the psyche so as to help us see it and heal it. He examines the concept of wetiko as it appears in the teachings of the Kabbalah, Hawaiian kahuna shamanism, Buddhism, and mystical Christianity and through esoteric concepts like egregores, demons, counterfeiting spirits, and psychic vampires. He reveals how visionary thinkers such as C. G. Jung, Sri Aurobindo, Philip K. Dick, Colin Wilson, Nicolas Berdyaev, and Rene Girard each point to wetiko in their own unique and creative way. He explores how the projection of the shadow self--scapegoating --is the underlying psychological mechanism fueling wetiko and examines wetiko in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, showing that we can reframe the pandemic so as to receive the lessons and opportunities embedded in it. Revealing how the power of imagination can cure the wetiko mind-virus, Levy underscores how important it is for each of us to bring forth the creative spirit within us, which helps shed the light of consciousness on wetiko, taking away its power over us while simultaneously empowering ourselves. Review “Utterly brilliant. Paul Levy has identified the unidentifiable and has answered the questions everyone is asking: What is happening to us, and what is our way through? No one has articulated the handiwork of darkness with more precision than Paul. I urge people to read this book.” Caroline Myss, author of Intimate Conversations with the Divine “This is a brilliant, indispensable book written by an authentic visionary genius. It is terrifying in its analysis of the soul sickness that now everywhere threatens the human adventure and exalting and inspiring in the remedies it proposes. Drawing on the richest possible sources of evolutionary mysticism, quantum physics, and transpersonal psychology, no one but Paul Levy could have given us such a feast.” Andrew Harvey, founder and director of the Institute for Sacred Activism and coauthor of Radical Reg “In this time of unprecedented crises on almost every level, our challenge is to become aware of and shed the insidious trance of destruction that has come over us. Only as we awaken can we become the spiritual warriors necessary to free ourselves and our world of this life-threatening spell and step into a prophesied golden time. In this powerful book, Paul helps us look within ourselves and this illness to awaken the amazing potential that Creator has given us to thrive as good stewards of this precious home planet and all our relations.” Brooke Medicine Eagle, ...

Book : John Dee And The Empire Of Angels Enochian Magick And

-Titulo Original : John Dee And The Empire Of Angels Enochian Magick And The Occult Roots Of The Modern World-Fabricante : Inner Traditions-Descripcion Original: Review Written in breezy, informal prose, Louv’s overstuffed book will appeal to those interested in angels or the occult. Publishers Weekly“John Dee is the original Elizabethan mage-scientist, who invented the British Empire and invested it with magical power. He is to Elizabeth what Merlin was to Arthur, except he was real. Here’s the original technology of weaponized memes, psyops, and empire building in a gripping, authoritative account of how and why we became an occult society.” Douglas Rushkoff, author of Aleister and Adolf and Throwing Rocks at the Google Bus“Any biographical treatment of John Dee must be nothing less than epic--and Jason Louv has gloriously achieved this in John Dee and the Empire of Angels, a truly comprehensive, broad-spectrum, and lavishly beautiful historical study of the master magus and the counter-current of secret history Dee launched into the world, which has affected us all.” Mitch Horowitz, PEN Award-winning author of Occult America and The Miracle Club“A crazy plunge into the weird world of angels and those brave or foolish enough to try to contact them. Be prepared, for this book illuminates the dark corners of history that many institutions would prefer to go unexplored and unmentioned--I’m thankful for the angels that aided Jason in his creation of this mind-spinning, glorious work of occult genius.” Duncan Trussell, host of The Duncan Trussell Family Hour podcast“Renaissance magus John Dee boldly set out to systematically tap the mind of God by communicating directly with a complex hierarchy of ‘angelic’ intelligences. It can be argued that he succeeded. His magical diaries have long held intense fascination among Qabalists, alchemists, and explorers of human consciousness who have developed workable magical systems from these records. Jason Louv’s work succeeds, with breathtaking thoroughness, to tell this amazing and true magical tale. More importantly, he also reveals the profound geopolitical significance of Dee’s magical explorations--effects that still shape the global realities of today.” Lon Milo DuQuette, author of Enochian Vision Magick“Jason Louv’s John Dee and the Empire of Angels is a groundbreaking new assessment of one of the Western world’s most influential polymaths. Through a combination of intellectual rigor, sensitivity to both historical and current sociopolitical climates, and perhaps a bit of his own intuitive scrying, Louv offers us a crystalline view of John Dee’s visionary mind and complicated legacy.” Pam Grossman, author of What Is a Witch and host of The Witch Wave podcast“Jason Louv’s masterful account of the enigmatic Elizabethan magus John Dee places him in the top tier of new esoteric writers. . . . Louv’s assertion of Dee as both a creator and custodian of Western civilization is thought-provoking, and it is backed up by meticulous research. Highly recommended.” Brendan McCarthy, artist, designer, and cowriter of Mad Max: Fury Road“The Dee story is among the most mystifying and important in the entire history of the Western esoteric tradition. And here, Jason Louv has given us the most complete, complex, and balanced account yet of Dee and his aftermath. An awesome achievement.” Ralph Abraham, author of Chaos, Gaia, Eros“Jason Louv’s book is absolutely invaluable. It contextualizes the very bedrock that Western ceremonial magic is based on. Dee and Kelly’s legendary experiments are the cornerstone of our Western understanding of how magic works. But there’s more to it than that. Louv’s impressive work is not only an enjoyable, adventurous journey into esoteric history but also one into the multifaceted--and sometimes dangerous--machinations of the human mind.” Carl Abrahamsson, author of Occulture: The Unseen Forces That Drive Culture Forward“Jason Louv weaves a masterfully poetic web that first introduces you and then sucks you into Dee’s luminous world of magick. -Titulo Original : Dark Light Consciousness Melanin, Serpent Power, And The Luminous Matrix Of Reality-Fabricante : Inner Traditions-Descripcion Original: Review “In this fascinating book, Edward Bynum throws down a gauntlet to science that may very well result in the most revolutionary research ever done on consciousness. His groundbreaking ideas challenge not just what we know about enlightenment but the very nature of light itself and--more importantly for each and every one of us--our journey toward it.” Teri Degler, author of The Divine Feminine Fire and The Fiery Muse“Edward Bruce Bynum remains the preeminent and most prolific behavioral health scientist who can raise our higher state of consciousness by linking modern concepts of melanin, contemporary views on meditation, and ancient mysticism.” T. Owens Moore, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Fayetteville State University and author of The Sc“Edward Bynum has written a complex guide that brings together ancient and modern sciences, ethics, biology, spiritual teachings, and subtle physiology and provides specific energy and meditation practices to activate and explain the awakening of kundalini energy and its highest functioning in an individual. He has introduced ancient tantric understanding of subtle body energies rarely available to the public, along with practices that allow one to discover their existence for themselves. This book will be highly useful for personal growth and offers a foundation for new research and experimentation that can bring science and the realization of consciousness together. A true alchemy of the body and the spirit.” Bonnie Greenwell, Ph.D., founder of Shanti River Center in Ashland, Oregon, and author of Energies o“Dr. Bynum provides advice--with helpful illustrations too--on meditation, breathing and yoga practices to prepare for soul projection and help effect the connection with the superconscious.” Nexus Magazine, October 2012 How to awaken the Ureaus--the serpent power of spiritual transcendence within each of us--and connect to the superconscious of the universe * Reveals the biochemistry of how the body’s melanin provides the template for the subtle energy body or light body * Shows how embracing the dark light consciousness of the awakened Ureaus opens a portal to the sacred darkness of the superconscious * Provides illustrated instructions for meditation practices, breathing exercises, and yoga postures to safely awaken Ureaus/Kundalini energy Within each of us lies the potential to activate a personal connection to the superconscious. Called “Ureaus” in ancient Egyptian texts and “Kundalini” in ancient Hindu yoga traditions, our innate serpent power of spiritual transcendence inhabits the base of the spine in its dormant state. When awakened, it unfurls along the spinal column to the brain, connecting individual consciousness to the consciousness of the universe enfolded within the dark matter of space. At the root of creativity and spiritual genius across innumerable cultures and civilizations, this intelligent force reveals portals that enfold time, space, and the luminous matrix of reality itself. Combining physics, neuroscience, and biochemistry with ancient traditions from Africa and India, Edward Bruce Bynum, Ph.D., explores the ancient Egyptian science of the Ureaus and reveals how it is intimately connected to dark matter and to melanin, a light-sensitive, energy-conducting substance found in the brain, nervous system, and organs of all higher life-forms. He explains how the dark light of melanin serves as the biochemical infrastructure for the subtle energy body, just as dark matter, together with gravity, holds the galaxies and constellations together. With illustrated instructions, he shows how to safely awaken and stabilize the spiritual energy of the Ureaus through meditation practices, breathing exercises, and yoga postures as well as how to prepare the subtle body for transdimensional soul travel. By embracing the dark light of the shining serpent within, we overcome our collective fear of the vast living darkness...

Book : The Ancient Language Of Sacred Sound The Acoustic...

-Titulo Original : The Ancient Language Of Sacred Sound The Acoustic Science Of The Divine-Fabricante : Inner Traditions-Descripcion Original: Reveals the connections between the Earth’s resonant frequencies, sacred sites, human consciousness, and the origins of religion* Details how sacred sites resonate at the same frequencies as both the Earth and the alpha waves of the human brain * Shows how human writing in its original hieroglyphic form was a direct response to the divine sound patterns of sacred sites * Explains how ancient hero myths from around the world relate to divine acoustic science and formed the source of religion The Earth resonates at an extremely low frequency. Known as “the Schumann Resonance,” this natural rhythm of the Earth precisely corresponds with the human brain’s alpha wave frequencies--the frequency at which we enter into and come out of sleep as well as the frequency of deep meditation, inspiration, and problem solving. Sound experiments reveal that sacred sites and structures like stupas, pyramids, and cathedrals also resonate at these special frequencies when activated by chanting and singing. Did our ancestors build their sacred sites according to the rhythms of the Earth? Exploring the acoustic connections between the Earth, the human brain, and sacred spaces, David Elkington shows how humanity maintained a direct line of communication with Mother Earth and the Divine through the construction of sacred sites, such as Stonehenge, Newgrange, Machu Picchu, Chartres Cathedral, and the pyramids of both Egypt and Mexico. He reveals how human writing in its original hieroglyphic form was a direct response to the divine sound patterns of sacred sites, showing how, for example, recognizable hieroglyphs appear in sand patterns when the sacred frequencies of the Great Pyramid are activated. Looking at ancient hero legends--those about the bringers of important knowledge or language--Elkington explains how these myths form the source of ancient religion and have a unique mythological resonance, as do the sites associated with them. The author then reveals how religion, including Christianity, is an ancient language of acoustic science given expression by the world’s sacred sites and shows that power places played a profound role in the development of human civilization. Review “Essential reading for those seeking an intelligent perspective on persistent cross-cultural myths and mysteries from antiquity.” Keith M. T. Hearne, Ph.D., psychologist, composer, and writer“An eye-opening and mind-opening journey, with a completely new angle on the most intriguing of ancient mysteries, that will provide a major talking point for many years to come.” Lynn Picknett & Clive Prince, authors of When God Had a Wife“David Elkington has uncovered an important method by which we can literally listen to the past.” John Matthews, New York Times bestselling author of books on myth, faery, the Arthurian legends & Gr“An intriguing case for a far more interesting history than we currently know, while breaking new ground in ancient knowledge of the hidden patterns of the universe.” Laura Lee, director of research and outreach at the Cuyamungue Institute“This book is a touchstone for rediscovering some of the deepest mysteries of antiquity. Mystical sciences behind all religions are a revelation that will cause a seismic shift in our perception of the wisdom of the Ancients.” Paul Broadhurst, coauthor of The Sun and the Serpent“David Elkington’s theories could be a major development in our understanding of the Ancient Mysteries.” Adrian Gilbert, coauthor of The Orion Mystery and The Mayan PropheciesThe Ancient Language of Sacred Sound is a most fascinating book of the history of religion and the source of Christianity in antiquity. Book : The Heart Of Yoga Developing A Personal Practice -...

-Titulo Original : The Heart Of Yoga Developing A Personal Practice-Fabricante : Inner Traditions-Descripcion Original: The first yoga text to outline a step-by-step sequence for developing a complete practice according to viniyoga--yoga adapted to the needs of the individual. * A contemporary classic by a world-renowned teacher. * This new edition adds thirty-two poems by Krishnamacharya that capture the essence of his teachings. Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, who lived to be over 100 years old, was one of the greatest yogis of the modern era. Elements of Krishnamacharyas teaching have become well known around the world through the work of B. K. S. Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois, and Indra Devi, who all studied with Krishnamacharya. Krishnamacharyas son T. K. V. Desikachar lived and studied with his father all his life and now teaches the full spectrum of Krishnamacharyas yoga. Desikachar has based his method on Krishnamacharyas fundamental concept of viniyoga, which maintains that practices must be continually adapted to the individuals changing needs to achieve the maximum therapeutic value. In The Heart of Yoga Desikachar offers a distillation of his fathers system as well as his own practical approach, which he describes as a program for the spine at every level--physical, mental, and spiritual. This is the first yoga text to outline a step-by-step sequence for developing a complete practice according to the age-old principles of yoga. Desikachar discusses all the elements of yoga--poses and counterposes, conscious breathing, meditation, and philosophy--and shows how the yoga student may develop a practice tailored to his or her current state of health, age, occupation, and lifestyle. This is a revised edition of The Heart of Yoga. Review I can think of no better book to recommend to a friend beginning to be excited by yoga but bewildered by the plethora of different schools and their sometimes-conflicting teachings. In addition, I would be hard-pressed to think of a book I would recommend more highly to any yoga student seeking to deepen a yoga practice . . . The great gift of The Heart of Yoga lies not simply in the depth of Desikachars learning, but in the compassion, gentleness, practicality, and down-to-earth spirit that permeate the book. Yoga Journal . . . a milestone in the transmission of yoga from the ancient masters to the modern world. Bodhi Tree Book Review, Winter 1999 / Spring 2000 “Read this book from cover to cover and you will begin to understand what yoga is all about.” The Sunday Times “Those who are interested in understanding what yoga is about, those who are looking for a larger context and focus for their hatha practice, those who look to the Yoga Su-tra for guidance, and all those who have loved and benefited from Krishnamacharya and/or Desikachar, directly or indirectly, will want this book.” Yoga International “An invaluable source of information regarding the theory and practice of yoga. A must for students and teachers alike.” Indra Devi, author of Yoga for You “Desikachar speaks from the heart with tenderness as well as an engineers careful attention to details and individuality.” LA Yoga, January 2011 From the Back Cover YOGA “I can think of no better book to recommend to a friend beginning to be excited by yoga but bewildered by the plethora of different schools and their sometimes conflicting teachings.
