There is a suspect at the scene of the crime, though: the priest at the church, Reverend Howard Jamison. However, he will not speak. His presence at the crime scene and his DNA on the nails of the victim present overwhelming evidence against him. He faces a potential death sentence, and his case is forcefully handed to Hunter St. James, a lawyer on his journey towards self-discovery and living in the ugly shadow of his late fathers transgressions against the law. Hunter initially believes that his client is guilty and puts little effort into the case, but a lot of things do not add up. The events that unfold throw us into a world of many secrets run by a powerful occultic group. The author did a fantastic job in this story by creating intriguing characters that readers will love and relate to. From the main character, Hunter, who hoped to further his career but was stigmatized due to the sins of his father, to Hunters romantic interest later in the story, Psychologist Faith McGuire, who struggled with going into any relationship after a failed marriage, the story did not lack in carefully crafted characters that showed us their strengths, flaws, and weaknesses. This was my favorite part of the story. I also enjoyed the conversations between Hunter and Reverend Jamison that revolved around comparisons between religion and science. Hunter did not believe in God, and I couldnt blame him, considering everything his family had been through. It was difficult for him to believe that there could be a God while he suffered. Readers will find their discussions very insightful, as they also debated the creation story versus the big bang theory. The author is also well versed in the world of investigations and legal proceedings, as we follow a well-detailed investigation that helps us uncover other suspects in the case, which creates a more complex mystery. Readers can also expect a few twists and thrilling scenes where our main characters lives are on the line. To Kill A Saint is a professionally edited book. I found just three errors while reading, and they did not affect my reading at all. The only thing I did not like about the book was the description of the characters reactions to losses at different points of the story. There wasnt a lot of effort put into describing this part of the novel, and it felt like they moved on too quickly. Nevertheless, the book deserves a rating of four out of four stars. It is a well-written, well-edited, and thrilling read that will keep readers on the edge of their seats throughout. Could not stop reading and have already ordered the next book in this series. Recommend this to all fans of the genre. I truly enjoyed the story line, it kept me interested from cover to cover. Excellent storyline and realistic characters make this a book hard to put down. Looking forward to reading the other books in this series. One of the best post apocalyptic books I have read. This had me totally engrossed the whole time, very hard to put this one down. T.L. Payne delivers a realistic rendering of what we may face in the event off a grid down scenario. This story caught my attention right from the very beginning and didnt let go until the very end. Eye opening and disturbing in many ways. I was immediately swept up into Maddies world and I couldnt turn the pages fast enough. This story has everything including hope! A must read for the post apocalyptic/prepper reader. I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and the characters were well developed. There was suspense and thankfully NO ZOMBIES lol. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series. What!!! How did this book end so quick? I was enjoying this books so much that I forgot to keep track of my percentages as I went along! I was shocked to find myself at the last page. Easy engaging and chucked full of realistic scenarios and information that can be utilized now! This book is fantastic. The story line is interesting from the start to the end, it hardly makes you want to stop reading it. Being able to read the perspective of different characters adds more to the story and does not drag the story line as some books do. If you read it you will not regret it. From the Author Hace treinta años, mes arriba, mes abajo, yo era un joven orientalista sumergido en la redaccion de su tesis doctoral en Historia bajo la direccion de Pilar Fernandez Uriel. Trataba yo con ella indagar en las razones de la ruptura entre el judaismo y el cristianismo, un hecho que habia marcado con sangre y lagrimas la Historia universal y que, en apariencia, debia haber resultado totalmente absurdo en la medida en que Jesus habia sido un judio que se habia presentado como el mesias esperado por Israel durante siglos. Sostenia yo en aquel entonces que las creencias religiosas y, en general, las manifestaciones espirituales - contra lo que pensaban los añosos y rancios marxistas que habian ido copando la enseñanza en la universidad española - habian tenido una importancia esencial en la Historia de la Humanidad y, lo que era mas importante, que, lejos de estar eclipsandose su influencia, esta, presumiblemente, iba a ir en aumento en las decadas siguientes. El resultado de mi trabajo de investigacion fue una tesis doctoral que recibio la maxima calificacion academica por unanimidad por parte de un tribunal que presidia Jose Maria Blazquez, decano de los historiadores españoles de la Antiguedad. Por añadidura, fue objeto del Premio extraordinario de fin de carrera, premio que monopolizaba desde tiempo inmemorial el departamento de Historia contemporanea de aquella universidad, pero cuyo monopolio quebro para satisfaccion de no pocos mi tesis doctoral. Basta leer el periodico del dia para percatarse de que aquellos añosos y rancios docentes se equivocaban de plano y que el autor de estas lineas acertaba mas de lo que me hubiera gustado o incluso hubiera resultado prudente para permanecer en la universidad, especialmente, cuando la institucion llevaba años desarrollando una endogamia perezosa intelectualmente, sectaria ideologicamente y corrupta selectivamente. Sin embargo, nada de aquello me importaba porque estaba yo tan convencido de la veracidad de mi planteamiento que tanto mis primeros estudios historicos como mi primera obra de ficcion estuvieron relacionados con ese tipo de tema. En buena medida, ese enfoque ha marcado toda mi obra de mas de tres decadas, incluida aquellos estudios que parecian alejados de este tema. La obra pretende examinar tres aspectos muy concretos relacionados con los primeros cristianos, aquellos que procedian del pueblo de Israel y que incluso habian visto al mesias en Jesus. El primero es un relato a partir de las fuentes de la Historia de ese judeo-cristianismo desde la crucifixion de Jesus hasta su expulsion del pueblo de Israel. Una vez mas, la obra cuenta con escasos, a decir verdad escasisimos, paralelos en todo el mundo. A continuacion, el texto analiza la composicion social y la teologia de los judeo-cristianos, aspectos ambos examinados con anterioridad solo muy parcialmente en la bibliografia internac.
