Ese siniestro número sólo insinúa el horror que Crumb pretendía como una oda a la guerra de Vietnam. La guerra informa todo el CD: el Cuarteto nº 8 de Shostakovich, compuesto cerca del apogeo de la Guerra Fría, en 1960, estaba dedicado a las víctimas del fascismo y la guerra. Doom. A Sigh, de Istvan Marta, incorpora grabaciones de campo de dos mujeres rumanas cantando lamentos personales de amigos y familiares caídos; su dolor es tan intenso que hace que escuchar sea increíblemente difícil. El texto original de Spem in Alium del compositor del siglo XVI Thomas Tallis (originalmente un motete de 40 voces) recordaba una batalla bíblica. Y se escucha al difunto compositor estadounidense Charles Ives cantando (sí, cantando) ¡Están allí!, una canción que escribió durante la Gran Guerra y que retomó para la Segunda Guerra Mundial; Se le unen aquí los Kronos, medio siglo después de su muerte, en un acto de magia de estudio que es ingenioso, si no musicalmente estimulante. --Marc Weidenbaum Importado!!!...
