It has built in thermal and over-current protection but we could barely tell it got hot. This board is a welcome upgrade to basic LM386 amps! The inputs of the amplifier go through 1.0uF capacitors, so they are fully 'differential' - if you don't have differential outputs, simply tie the R- and L- to ground. The outputs are Bridge Tied - that means they connect directly to the outputs, no connection to ground. The output is a 360KHz square wave PWM that is then 'averaged out' by the speaker coil - the high frequencies are not heard. All the above means that you can't connect the output into another amplifier, it should drive the speakers directly. Comes with a fully assembled and tested breakout board with 1.0uF input capacitors. The Adafruit ATWINC1500 WiFi Breakout uses SPI to communicate, so with about 6 wires, you can get your wired up and ready to go. Right now the Atmel-supplied library works great with Arduino Zero, and seems to work OK on Uno but may not work on other Arduinos. You can clock it as fast as 12MHz for speedy, reliable packet streaming. And scanning/connecting to networks is very fast, a few seconds. This module works with 802.11b, g, or n networks & supports WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption. The datasheet says it can do Soft-AP mode but we don't have any code to actually use that. Since this is our new favoritest SPI-protocol WiFi module we've decided to make a little breakout for it. The breakout comes with level shifting on all the input pins so you can use it with 3V or 5V logic. A 3.3V voltage regulator that can handle the 300mA spikes lets you power from 3-5.5VDC. This gives it stable handling (the bytes you write are non-volatile) with dynamic responsiveness (you can write them very fast!) Now, with our SPI FRAM breakout board you can add some FRAM storage to your next DIY project. FRAM allows for a lower power usage and a faster write performance. It's excellent for low-power or inconsistent-power datalogging or data buffering where you want to stream data fast while also keeping the data when there's no power. Unlike Flash or EEPROM there's no pages to worry about. Each byte can be read/written 10,000,000,000,000 times so you don't have to worry too much about wear leveling. This particular FRAM chip has 64 Kbits (8 KBytes) of storage, interfaces using SPI, and can run at up to 20MHz SPI clock rates. Each byte can be read and written instantaneously (like SRAM) but will keep the memory for 95 years at room temperature. We picked up the largest chip that has SPI and is also 5V compliant. You can use this chip with either 3V or 5V power and logic. It comes in a breadboard-friendly breakout and a spare stick of 0.1 male header for soldering on. Our harvest of terminal blocks is great news since nothing makes a project harder to maintain than a lot of loose wiring. That's why we like to use terminal blocks whenever making PCB-to-wire connections. These are 2.54mm spaced blocks so they fit easily into perf or protoboards. They don't fit well into solderless breadboards since the legs are not very long, and they don't snap together or fit side-by-side on a 0.1 grid - but that's okay since we've got a bunch of sizes to choose from. These terminal blocks are also big enough for a range of wire gauges and easy to adjust with a screwdriver. They're not too chunky - so won't take up too much space on your protoboard - and found them pretty ideal for projects where you need a specific number of pins...
