Set in the world of cockfighting and conceived as a film project, it is probably the lesser-known work of the Mexican author. Despite this ignorance, the literary valuation is at the same level as Pedro Paramo and Llano en Llamas. On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Juan Rulfo, RM publishes a special edition of El gallo de oro to which other stories that complement it are incorporated.
