The band Frei.Wild (which roughly translates as fair game) was founded by Philipp Burger (vocals, guitar) and Jonas Notdurfter (guitar) in September 2001. Jochen Gargitter (bass) and Christian Fohrer (drums) joined the band shortly after. In the beginning the band tried to imitate other German speaking bands like Bohse Onkelz and Rammstein. Since 2002 they have released 9 highly successful studio albums making them one of the most successful German bands ever. And here comes their 10th studio album called Opposition. There have been many political discussions about the band in recent years, some critics accuse them of a right-wing background. Frei.Wild lyrics mostly deal with everyday experiences such as friendship, money, alcohol, freedom, dealing with setbacks and defeats. The band itself is keen not to be seen as a politically minded group and they have been disassociating themselves from both right and left extremism. The new album Opposition is no exception, the lyrics deal with their feelings and their experiences and the new songs are as catchy as ever. Opposition is the core message: We are the ones sitting opposed to the government of the Musical Parliament, but we re always ready for talks, explains the band.
