Book : Point And Line To Plane - Kandinsky, Wassily
-Titulo Original : Point And Line To Plane-Fabricante : Martino Fine Books-Descripcion Original: 2013 Reprint of 1947 Edition. Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. In this title Kandinsky analyzed the geometrical elements which make up every painting-the point and the line. He called the physical support and the material surface on which the artist draws or paints the basic plane, or BP. He did not analyze them objectively, but from the point of view of their inner effect on the observer. A point is a small bit of color put by the artist on the canvas. It is neither a geometric point nor a mathematical abstraction; it is extension, form and color. This form can be a square, a triangle, a circle, a star or something more complex. The point is the most concise form but, according to its placement on the basic plane, it will take a different tonality. It can be isolated or resonate with other points or lines. A line is the product of a force which has been applied in a given direction: the force exerted on the pencil or paintbrush by the artist. The produced linear forms may be of several types: a straight line, which results from a unique force applied in a single direction; an angular line, resulting from the alternation of two forces in different directions, or a curved (or wave-like) line, produced by the effect of two forces acting simultaneously. The book contains many photographic examples and drawings from Kandinskys works which offer the demonstration of its theoretical observations, and which allow the reader to experience the inner effect of the point and line to plane... -

Book : Towards A New Architecture - Le Corbusier
-Titulo Original : Towards A New Architecture-Fabricante : Martino Fine Books-Descripcion Original: 2014 Reprint of 1927 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. This classic work is a collection of essays written by Le Corbusier advocating for and exploring the concept of modern architecture. The book has had a lasting effect on the architectural profession, serving as the manifesto for a generation of architects, a subject of hatred for others, and unquestionably a critical piece of architectural theory. The architectural historian Reyner Banham once claimed that its influence was unquestionably beyond that of any other architectural work published in this [20th] century to date. That unparalleled influence has continued, unabated, into the 21st century. The polemical book contains seven essays. Each essay dismisses the contemporary trends of eclecticism and art deco, replacing them with architecture that was meant to be more than a stylistic experiment; rather, an architecture that would fundamentally change how humans interacted with buildings. This new mode of living derived from a new spirit defining the industrial age, demanding a rebirth of architecture based on function and a new aesthetic based on pure form...

Originally published with the title: A Greater than Napoleon, Scipio Africanus. Full Facsimile of the original edition and not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Scipio Africanus (236-183 B.C.) was one of the most exciting and dynamic military leaders of the classical world. He never lost a battle whilst commanding Roman troops. Yet it is his adversary, Hannibal, who has lived on in the public memory, due mostly to his daring march through the Alps with his elephants. At the Battle of the Ticinus, Hannibals initial encounter with Roman arms, young Scipio first tasted warfare, rescuing his dangerously wounded, encircled father, who was also the Roman commander. By nineteen Scipio was the equivalent of a staff colonel and in 210 B.C. he was placed in supreme command. In three years, he destroyed Carthaginian power in Spain and, after being made consul, took his forces to Africa, where he conquered Carthages great ally, Syphax. Two years later he clashed with Hannibal himself, annihilating his army in the decisive Battle of Zama. For this triumph and his other exploits in the Punic Wars, Scipio was awarded the title Africanus. In his fascinating portrait of this extraordinary commander, B. H. Liddell Hart writes, The age of generalship does not age, and it is because Scipios battles are richer in stratagems and ruses -- many still feasible today -- than those of any other commander in history that they are an unfailing object lesson. Not only military enthusiasts and historians but all those interested in outstanding men will find this magnificent study absorbing and gripping. -Titulo Original : The Key Of Solomon The King Clavicula Salomonis-Fabricante : Martino Fine Books-Descripcion Original: 2020 Reprint of the 1889 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition and not reproduced with Optical Recognition software. The Key of Solomon (Latin: Clavicula Salomonis) is a grimoire (also known as a book of spells) attributed to King Solomon. It probably dates back to the 14th or 15th century Italian Renaissance. It presents a typical example of Renaissance magic. It is possible that the Key of Solomon inspired later works, particularly the 17th-century grimoire also known as Clavicula Salomonis Regis, Lesser Key of Solomon or Lemegeton, although there are many differences between the books. Many such grimoires attributed to King Solomon were written during the Renaissance, ultimately being influenced by earlier works of Jewish kabbalists and Arab alchemists. These, in turn, incorporated aspects of the Greco-Roman magic of Late Antiquity. This grimoire of sigils and rituals for summoning and mastering spirits the most famous, or infamous, of all magic books. It has influenced everything from the revival of magic and the Western Mystery Traditions (tarot, alchemy, astrology, etc.) to fictional works such as Lovecraft’s The Necronomicon.S. L. MacGregor Mathers (1854-1918) was a prominent scholar and leader of the occult movement in Britian at the turn of the century. A lifelong fascination with mysticism and Celtic symbolism led Mathers to hold high office in the Rosicrucian Society of England, and eventually to become a founder of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. -Titulo Original : The Problem Of Increasing Human Energy With Special Reference To The Harnessing Of The Suns Energy-Fabricante : Martino Fine Books-Descripcion Original: 2019 Reprint of 1900 Edition First Published in The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine, Volume LX, June, 1900. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition software. In this short essay Tesla speculates on the nature of man and energy. “Though we may never be able to comprehend human life, we know certainly that it is a movement, of whatever nature it be. The existence of movement unavoidably implies a body which is being moved and a force which is moving it. Hence, wherever there is life, there is a mass moved by a force. All mass possesses inertia, all force tends to persist. Owing to this universal property and condition, a body, be it at rest or in motion, tends to remain in the same state, and a force, manifesting itself anywhere and through whatever cause, produces an equivalent opposing force, and as an absolute necessity of this it follows that every movement in nature must be rhythmical.” Illustrations include burning the nitrogen of the atmosphere, a diagram of the three ways of increasing human energy, the first practical Telautomaton, an experiment to illustrate the supplying of electrical energy through a single wire without return, the experiment to illustrate the transmission of electrical energy through the earth without wire, a photographic view of the coils responding to electrical oscillations, a view of the essential parts of the electrical oscillator used in the experiment, an experiment to illustrate an inductive effect of an electrical oscillator of great power, the experiment to illustrate the capacity of the oscillator for producing electrical explosions, an experiment to illustrate the capacity of the oscillator for creating a great electrical movement, a photographic view of an experiment to illustrate the effect of an electrical oscillator delivering energy at a rate of seventy-five thousand horse-power, and small diagrams of wireless telegraphy mechanically illustrated, and obtaining energy from the ambient medium.... -

-Titulo Original : As A Man Thinketh-Fabricante : Martino Fine Books-Descripcion Original: 2018 Reprint of the 1913 Edition. As a Man Thinketh was first published in 1903. In it, Allen describes how man is the creator and shaper of his destiny by the thoughts which he thinks. We rise and fall in exact accordance with the character of the thoughts which we entertain. Our environment is the result of the thoughts that we harbor and the behavior that our thoughts bring about. Part of the New Thought Movement, Allen reveals the secrets to having the most fulfilling existence possible, guided by a proper understanding and appreciate of how thought shapes our lives. Allen advises on how to better manage our thoughts and how to direct them into more constructive behavior. Though written more than one hundred years ago, the language and resonance of this classic still hold up today, inviting each of us to reflect not on the world and others, but our own thoughts and how to regain their possession. The title for the essay comes from the Bible: “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he,” Proverbs, chapter 23, verse 7. In more than a century, As A Man Thinketh has become an inspirational classic, selling millions of copies worldwide and bringing faith, inspiration, and self- healing to all who have encountered it....

Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Human Action: A Treatise on Economics is the first comprehensive treatise on economics written by a leading member of the modern Austrian school of economics. Von Mises contribution was very simple, yet at the same time extremely profound: he pointed out that the whole economy is the result of what individuals do. Individuals act, choose, cooperate, compete, and trade with one another. In this way Mises explained how complex market phenomena develop. Mises did not simply describe economic phenomena - prices, wages, interest rates, money, monopoly and even the trade cycle - he explained them as the outcomes of countless conscious, purposive actions, choices, and preferences of individuals, each of whom was trying as best as he or she could under the circumstances to attain various wants and ends and to avoid undesired consequences. Hence the title Mises chose for his economic treatise, Human Action... -

-Titulo Original : Magic A Treatise On Natural Occultism-Fabricante : Martino Fine Books-Descripcion Original: 2014 Reprint of 1929 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. This pamphlet is an essay enabling individuals to distinguish between black and white magic, thereby avoiding practices and disciplines which may be detrimental to character and dangerous to physical health. As Paracelsus noted centuries ago, the invisible realms of nature are governed by immutable laws which cannot be violated with impunity. In recent years researchers in many fields have been exploring the hidden side of life and nature, but few of them have given serious consideration to the moral and ethical responsibilities associated with their labors. The tendency has been to assume that the transcendental arts, like the resources of the physical world, can be exploited without regard for consequences. As in the case of the sorcerers of long ago, the principal objective is the binding of invisible energies for the advancement of personal ambitions. Many innocent persons have become involved in magical practices and disciplines which are detrimental to character and dangerous to physical health. The abuse of powers and forces as yet but partly understood must result in both psychical and psychological tragedy. In this little essay, I have attempted to present in concise form a code of rules which, if faithfully followed, will protect both the individual and society. We are fully aware that the materialistic approach on any level of esoteric knowledge is contrary to the universal plan. We must all accept the burdens that come from the exploration of natural mysteries and dedicate our findings to the glory of God and the well-being of all humanity. Topics include: Children of the False Darkness The Philosophy of Opportunity The Fruitage of Black Magic: The Left-Hand Path The Fruitage of White Magic: The Right-Hand Path The Mechanics of Opportunity Definitions of Magic The Power of Demons The Source Power in Magic The Power of Black Magic The Demoniacal Powers of the Ancients Spiritual Research The Mechanics of Magi... -
