Libro : Imagina - Herrera, Juan Felipe

-Titulo Original : Imagina -Fabricante : Candlewick-Descripcion Original: A buoyant, breathtaking poem from Juan Felipe Herrera - brilliantly illustrated by Caldecott Honoree Lauren Castillo - speaks to every dreaming heart. Now in a Spanish-language edition!¿ALGUNA VEZ has imaginado quien seras cuando crezcas? Imagina . . .Have you ever imagined what you might be when you grow up? When he was very young, Juan Felipe Herrera picked chamomile flowers in windy fields and let tadpoles swim across his hands in a creek. He slept outside and learned to say goodbye to his amiguitoseach time his family moved to a new town. He went to school and taught himself to read and write English and filled paper pads with rivers of ink as he walked down the street after school. And when he grew up, he became the United States Poet Laureate and read his poems aloud on the steps of the Library of Congress. If he could do all of that . . . what could you do? With this newly translated illustrated poem of endless possibility, Juan Felipe Herrera and Lauren Castillo breathe magic into the hopes and dreams of readers searching for their place in life. Review Lauren Castillos perfect illustrations -- warm, deftly composed, with the sensual allure of woodcuts--are so captivating they might on their own overcome a ho-hum story. But this poem is a masterly picture book text: Its precisely chosen words create a world you have to listen to, to think about. When at the end you learn that you were being told this boys story as a spur to your own potentially amazing one, the surprise and the gratification outweigh any sense of a lesson being taught.--The New York Times Book Review Spacious, light-filled spreads by Castillo (Nana in the City) conjure up landscapes of red earth, bright sun, and long views. Herrera writes of the joy of creation and discovery, and says little about the hardships he must have undergone. The story of a brown-skinned boy who practiced/ spelling words/ in English by/ saying them in Spanish/ like--pehn-seel for/ pencil reaching recognition as the nations most lauded poet offers a heartening narrative of hope: imagine.--Publishers Weekly (starred review) Castillos ink and foam monoprint illustrations are a tender accompaniment to Herreras verse, the black lines of her illustrations flowing across the page in rhythm with the authors poetry. Together this makes for a charming read-aloud for groups or a child snuggled in a lap. A lyrical coming-of-age story in picture-book form that begs to be shared.--Kirkus Reviews (starred review) Written by the master wordsmith himself, this work details Herreras life as a young boy spending time outside and then as an adolescent learning to craft poetry, before ultimately receiving the honor of U.S. Poet Laureate as an adult. His words are accompanied by pen-and-foam monoprint illustrations that sweep across the page to create a soft, dreamy feeling, further encouraging readers to heed the authors recurring refrain: imagine. Readers will finish the story envisioning all the possibilities that may await them. A beautifully illustrated poem that will be cherished by children. A first purchase.--School Library Journal (starred review) With solid storytelling and evocative detail, Herrera invites youngsters to relate to his own experiences, making this a more grounded outing than many exhortations to young audiences. Castillos art cleverly employs pencil and foam monoprint to contrast the assured, homey linework that anchors the figures with the dappled textures of light and col...

Book : Because Of Winn-dixie - DiCamillo, Kate

-Titulo Original : Because Of Winn-dixie-Fabricante : Candlewick-Descripcion Original: The classic heartwarming tale from Kate DiCamillo-now with an afterword from the beloved author, reflecting on twenty years in printOne summer’s day, ten-year-old India Opal Buloni goes down to the local supermarket for some groceries-and comes home with a dog. But Winn-Dixie is no ordinary dog. It’s because of Winn-Dixie that Opal begins to make friends. And it’s because of Winn-Dixie that she finally dares to ask her father about her mother, who left when Opal was three. In fact, as Opal admits, just about everything that happens that summer is because of Winn-Dixie. This updated edition of Kate DiCamillo’s classic novel invites readers to make themselves at home-whether they’re experiencing the book for the first time or returning to an old favorite. Review Take one disarmingly engaging protagonist and put her in the company of a tenderly rendered canine and youve got yourself a recipe for the best kind of down-home literary treat. Kate DiCamillos voice in Because of Winn-Dixie should carry from the steamy, sultry pockets of Florida clear across the miles to enchant young readers everywhere. - Karen Hesse, author of the Newbery-award winner Out of the Dust About the Author Kate DiCamillo says of writing BECAUSE OF WINN-DIXIE, I was living in an apartment where no dogs were allowed. As a result, I was suffering from a serious case of dog withdrawal. One night, before I went to sleep, I heard this little girls voice (with a Southern accent) say, I have a dog named Winn-Dixie. When I woke up the next morning, the voice was still talking, and I started writing down what India Opal Buloni was telling me. The book is (I hope) a hymn of praise to dogs, friendship, and the South. Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. My name is India Opal Buloni, and last summer my daddy, the preacher, sent me to the store for a box of macaroni-and-cheese, some white rice, and two tomatoes and I came back with a dog. This is what happened: I walked into the produce section of the Winn-Dixie grocery store to pick out my two tomatoes and I almost bumped right into the store manager. He was standing there all red-faced, screaming and waving his arms around.Who let a dog in here? he kept on shouting. Who let a dirty dog in here?At first, I didn’t see a dog. There were just a lot of vegetables rolling around on the floor, tomatoes and onions and green peppers. And there was what seemed like a whole army of Winn-Dixie employees running around waving their arms just the same way the store manager was waving his.And then the dog came running around the corner. He was a big dog. And ugly. And he looked like he was having a real good time. His tongue was hanging out and he was wagging his tail. He skidded to a stop and smiled right at me. I had never before in my life seen a dog smile, but that is what he did. He pulled back his lips and showed me all his teeth. Then he wagged his tail so hard that he knocked some oranges off a display, and they went rolling everywhere, mixing in with the tomatoes and onions and green peppers. The manager screamed, Somebody grab that dog!The dog went running over to the manager, wagging his tail and smiling. He stood up on his hind legs. You could tell that all he wanted to do was get face to face with the manager and thank him for the good time he was having in the produce department, but somehow he ended up knocking the manager over. And the manager must have been having a bad day, because lying there on the floor, right in front of everybody, he started to cry. The dog leaned over him, real concerned, and licked his face. Please, said the manager. Somebody call the pound.Wait a minute! I hollered. That’s my dog. Don’t call the pound. All the Winn-Dixie employees turned around and looked at me, and I knew I had done something big. And maybe stupid, too. But I couldn’t help it. I couldn’t let that dog go to the pound. Here, boy...

Book : Julian Is A Mermaid - Love, Jessica

-Titulo Original : Julian Is A Mermaid-Fabricante : Candlewick-Descripcion Original: In an exuberant picture book, a glimpse of costumed mermaids leaves one boy flooded with wonder and ready to dazzle the world. While riding the subway home from the pool with his abuela one day, Julian notices three women spectacularly dressed up. Their hair billows in brilliant hues, their dresses end in fishtails, and their joy fills the train car. When Julian gets home, daydreaming of the magic he’s seen, all he can think about is dressing up just like the ladies in his own fabulous mermaid costume: a butter-yellow curtain for his tail, the fronds of a potted fern for his headdress. But what will Abuela think about the mess he makes - and even more importantly, what will she think about how Julian sees himself? Mesmerizing and full of heart, Jessica Love’s author-illustrator debut is a jubilant picture of self-love and a radiant celebration of individuality. From School Library Journal PreS-Gr 2-Young Julian lives with his abuela and is obsessed with mermaids. He imagines taking off his clothes, growing a tail, and swimming freely through the blue-tinted water with swirls of fish and stingrays. After spying some women on a train dressed as mermaids, Julian later tells his abuela, I am also a mermaid, then proceeds to wrap a curtain around his waist as a tail. Ferns in his hair complete the fantastical look, and when his grandmother catches him -is he in trouble? Not at all! In fact, she takes Julian to a festival where people are dressed as fantastically as Julian. Love couples the spare narrative with vivid, imaginative, and breathtaking illustrations. VERDICT A heartwarming must-have for one-on-one and small group sharing.-Amanda C. Buschmann, Carroll Elementary School, Houston Review This is Jessica Love’s debut picture book, and every choice she makes - the spare text, a color palette both muted and lively, full-bleed pages that make even subway cars and apartment rooms feel as expansive as the ocean - imbues the story with charm, tenderness and humor…Alongside Julian, readers learn that anyone can be a mermaid: All it takes is love and acceptance, a little imagination and a big swishy tail.-The New York Times Book ReviewLove couples the spare narrative with vivid, imaginative, and breathtaking illustrations. Though it could easily feel preachy, this charmingly subversive tale instead offers a simple yet powerful story of the importance of being seen and affirmed.-Kirkus Reviews (starred review)[Julian] is, in a word, fabulous. Love lets an anxious beat pass before Abuela takes Julian by the hand, leading him to what some readers may recognize as the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. “Like you, mijo,” says Abuela. “Let’s join them.” Love’s deep empathy for her characters and her keen-eyed observations of urban life come together in a story of love, understanding, and embracing the mermaid within us all.-Publishers Weekly (starred review)The luminous, lovely, and layered art is what really makes the book...The concluding parade is a confectionary wonder of marine fantasy that many kids will yearn to join, and it might prompt adults to set up their own in- library mermaid celebrations. More importantly, though, those who’ve been shy about their love for dazzle and showmanship will love the idea of a formidable grandparental ally, and they will find this encouraging and empowering.-Bulletin of the Center for Childrens Books (starred review)Julian’s emotional journey takes on depth through small but important details: a wary look in the mirror, a slight inward slump of the shoulders, a chin held high while marching down the street. What’s more, on the same extraordinary day, he meets Sistine Bailey, a girl who shows her feelings as readily as Rob hides his. As they learn to trust each other, and ultimately, to be friends, Rob and Sistine prove that some things-like memories, and heartache, and tigers-can’t be locked up forever. Featuring a cover illustration by Stephen Walton. Review Kate DiCamillo, whose Because of Winn-Dixie was a Newbery Honor Book, again explores the difficulty of fitting into a new place. DiCamillo demonstrates her versatility by treating themes similar to those of her first novel with a completely different approach. Readers will eagerly anticipate her next work. -Publishers Weekly (starred review)It deals with the tough issues of death, grieving, and the great accompanying sadness, and has enough layers to embrace any reader. -School Library Journal (starred review)The story deftly shows the anxiety and suspense of getting close to someone after experience has taught you that may not be safe to do. DiCamillos gorgeous language wastes not a single word: spare and taut her sentences spin out, with the Florida mist rising off them, and unspoken words finally said aloud. -BooklistYoung readers who enjoyed DiCamillos first novel wont be disappointed by her second. -The Bulletin of the Center for Childrens BooksThe brief novel, which features a well realized setting and an almost palpable aura of sadness, has a certain mythic quality. -The Horn Book. . . the tiger, burning bright with magnificent, feral presence, does make an arresting central image. -Kirkus ReviewsTogether [the characters] learn about trust, friendship, and feelings as they plot to set the tiger free. This poignant, powerful story was written by the author of the Newbery Honor book Because of Winn-Dixie. -Dallas Morning NewsDiCamillo, who grew up in Central Florida and wrote the multi-award winning Because of Winn-Dixie, could almost have titled her bittersweet second novel Because of the Tiger . . . because of the tiger, Rob and Sistine make the fateful decision that allows Rob and his father to grieve more openly for their loss. -Orlando SentinelPowerfully written by the author of Because of Winn-Dixie, this poignant story is certain to garner accolades on many levels. -Syndicated Column - Kendal Rautzhan About the Author Kate DiCamillo says of THE TIGER RISING, Rob Horton first showed up in a short story I was writing. I finished the story, but apparently Rob wasn’t finished with me. He hung around for weeks afterward, haunting the other stories I was working on. Finally, I said to him, ‘What in the world do you want?’ And he said, ‘I know where there’s a tiger.’ Like Sistine, I said one word back to him, ‘Where?’ THE TIGER RISING is how Rob Horton answered me. That morning, after he discovered the tiger, Rob went and stood under the Kentucky Star Motel sign and waited for the school bus just like it was any other day. The Kentucky Star sign was composed of a yellow neon star that rose and fell over a piece of blue neon in the shape of the state of Kentucky. Rob liked the sign; he harbored a dim but abiding notion that it would bring him good luck.Finding th...

-Titulo Original : Jabari Jumps-Fabricante : Candlewick-Descripcion Original: “This simple and sincere tale of working up courage to face fears makes quite a splash.” - Kirkus ReviewsJabari is definitely ready to jump off the diving board. He’s finished his swimming lessons and passed his swim test, and he’s a great jumper, so he’s not scared at all. “Looks easy,” says Jabari, watching the other kids take their turns. But when his dad squeezes his hand, Jabari squeezes back. He needs to figure out what kind of special jump to do anyway, and he should probably do some stretches before climbing up onto the diving board. In a sweetly appealing tale of overcoming your fears, Gaia Cornwall captures a moment between a patient and encouraging father and a determined little boy you can’t help but root for. Review Cornwall captures the exquisite tingle of Jabari’s fear and excitement, which gives the book its drama. Book : Sam And Dave Dig A Hole (irma S And James H Black...

-Titulo Original : Sam And Dave Dig A Hole (irma S And James H Black Award For Excellence In Childrens Literature (awards))-Fabricante : Candlewick-Descripcion Original: A 2015 Caldecott Honor BookWith perfect pacing, the multi-award-winning, New York Times best-selling team of Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen dig down for a deadpan tale full of visual humor.Sam and Dave are on a mission. A mission to find something spectacular. So they dig a hole. And they keep digging. And they find . . . nothing. Yet the day turns out to be pretty spectacular after all. Attentive readers will be rewarded with a rare treasure in this witty story of looking for the extraordinary - and finding it in a manner you’d never expect. From School Library Journal PreS-Gr 1-The winning picture book team that created Extra Yarn (HarperCollins, 2012) is back together in this understated, humorous, and charmingly perplexing tale. Sam and Dave, who are either identical twin boys or friends who look astonishingly alike and share a sartorial sensibility, set out to dig a hole in the hopes of finding something spectacular. With shovels in hand, the boys (with an eager terrier looking on) begin to tunnel into the soil, but they just cant seem to find anything of interest. What works spectacularly is the clever play between words and pictures. As in Klassens This Is Not My Hat (Candlewick, 2012), readers are in on a joke to which the characters are oblivious. Namely, that each time the boys change direction, they narrowly miss discovering increasingly enormous jewels hidden in the earth. The book progresses with each verso showing the boys progress, while the recto features simple text, mostly dialogue between the practical but unlucky explorers. About halfway through, a spread reveals a diamond so large it can barely be contained on the page; it dwarfs the two boys and their trusty canine companion-but all for naught, since they decide to dig in a different direction. Exhausted and covered from head to toe in dirt, Sam and Dave decide to take a rest. Klassens use of muted earth tones and uncomplicated compositions is paired well with Barnetts deadpan humor. As they nap in their hole, the dog continues to dig…until suddenly the trio is falling; they soon land in a place that looks an awful lot like home. Small details reveal that this house and its inhabitants are ever so slightly changed. Are they dreaming? On the other side of the world? In a different dimension? Readers will have to puzzle that one out for themselves.-Kiera Parrott, School Library Journal Review A clever second collaboration between Barnett and Klassen... The prose is deadpan; the joke’s all in Klassen’s winsomely smudgy illustrations.-New York Times Book ReviewBarnett’s well-chosen words and plentiful white space support readers. Klassen’s cross-section illustrations give readers a mole’s-eye view of the underground proceedings, extending the spare text with visual humor. As in his previous books, Klassen shows an uncanny knack for conveying meaning with the subtlest of eye movements. How fitting that the wordless final spread features a knowing look between the dog and a cat familiar to Klassen fans; all that’s missing from the trippy conclusion is the theme music from The Twilight Zone. Mind-blowing in the best possible way.-Horn Book (starred review)When Sam and Dave dig a hole, readers get something spectacular. The boys, on the other hand, do not. Their quest to find the spectacular brings them painfully and humorously close to buried jewels as they spade their way into the ground, accompanied by an intrepid canine companion. ... Poor Sam and Dave. Lucky readers.-Kirkus Reviews (starred review)Barnett’s comic voice is at its driest as he recounts that quintessential American childhood activity-the digging of the giant hole. ... Cross-sections of earth show them further and further down, and comic tension erupts as readers see gigantic diamonds buried at intervals underground while Sam and Dave tunnel on, missing every one... They land in their own backyard again-or do they? Barnett and Klassen dangle the...

Book : The Odyssey - Hinds, Gareth

-Titulo Original : The Odyssey-Fabricante : Candlewick-Descripcion Original: With bold imagery and an ear tuned to the music of Homer’s epic poem, Gareth Hinds reinterprets the ancient classic as it’s never been told before.Gareth Hinds brings The Odyssey to life in a masterful blend of art and storytelling. Vivid and exciting, this graphic novel is a worthy new interpretation of Homer’s epic.-Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians seriesFresh from his triumphs in the Trojan War, Odysseus, King of Ithaca, wants nothing more than to return home to his family. Instead, he offends the sea god, Poseidon, who dooms him to years of shipwreck and wandering. Battling man-eating monsters, violent storms, and the supernatural seductions of sirens and sorceresses, Odysseus will need all his strength and cunning-and a little help from Mount Olympus-to make his way home and seize his kingdom from the schemers who seek to wed his queen and usurp his throne. Award-winning graphic artist Gareth Hinds masterfully reinterprets a story of heroism, adventure, and high action that has been told and retold for more than 2,500 years-though never quite like this. From School Library Journal Gr 7 Up-Taking a world-famous epic poem and adapting it into a graphic-novel format for modern readers is certainly an enormous endeavor. But since Hinds already performed the same feat quite admirably with Beowulf (Candlewick, 2007) he has proven himself more than capable of the task. To sum up the classic story: Odysseus tries to get home after the Trojan War, but many obstacles are thrown in his way, and many people, creatures, and gods try to stop him. His men are loyal on the one hand, yet bad at following critical orders on the other, which results in even more delays. Meanwhile, his faithful wife Penelope waits for him while fending off scores of impatient suitors. Luckily for Odysseus, he does have a few supporters, including the goddess Athena. Hindss beautiful watercolors skillfully capture the rosy-fingered dawn, the wine-dark sea, the land of the dead, and many other settings and characters that will inspire readers. This adaptation goes far above and beyond the “highlights” coverage that other versions such as Tim Muccis The Odyssey (Sterling, 2010) provide. Hindss work will be a welcome addition for fans of Homers original work and for newcomers to this classic story.-Andrea Lipinski, New York Public Library?(c) Copyright 2010. Eye-catching artwork on the front and back covers and the detailed Grecian urns on the end pages bring readers immediately into Hinds’s visual interpretation. Book : Big Truck Little Island - Van Dusen, Chris

-Titulo Original : Big Truck Little Island-Fabricante : Candlewick-Descripcion Original: That big truck is stuck! How will the island residents get where they’re going? A tale of community and ingenuity from the celebrated Chris Van Dusen, inspired by a true story. When a big truck and its big load get stuck on a narrow road, traffic on the little island comes to a halt. Some cars need to go south and some have to travel north. How will Meg get to her swim meet? What about Barry’s ballet class? Luckily, the kidscome up with an ingenious solution: why not just swap cars? Inspired by an incident that happened on Vinalhaven, Maine, Chris Van Dusen tells a fun tale of resourcefulness and community through clever, rhyming wordplay and whimsical illustrations, sprinkled with plenty of cars and trucks for transportation-loving readers. Review The crisply rhyming, economic text underscores both the protagonists’ cut-to-the-chase ingenuity and the story’s deftly delivered core message: when community and trust run deep, life’s inevitable obstacles are a lot easier to work around.-Publishers Weekly (starred review)Van Dusen is in full command of his rhyming text, using rhythm and sound to set the pace and convey mood. His expressive characters add humor to the situation.-The Horn Book (starred review)An excellent lesson in kindness and problem-solving. . . Van Dusen’s sun-drenched images of the truck making its way across the reach are stunning, as are the overhead views of the town, with its postcard-perfect farmhouses and tree-lined cliffs. It makes Maine a place readers will want to visit, just not in a truck that might struggle on narrow curves. . . A perfect little slice of life with a unique take on kindness and compromise.-Kirkus Reviews (starred review)The story, inspired by an actual mishap on Maine’s Vinalhaven island, rollicks along in rhymed verse that makes the most of the transportation theme. . . Gouache paintings maintain a lighthearted perspective on the islanders’ troubles, while accurately conveying the challenge of coaxing a massive rig along slippery switchbacks. This study in quick-thinking and neighborliness is bound to earn demands to read it again.-The Bulletin of the Center for Childrens BooksSpinning a tale based on a real incident that occurred on the island town of Vinalhaven in Maine, Van Dusen portrays what happens when a really big flatbed truck carrying a mysterious, covered load across a small island gets stuck on a tight curve and blocks traffic in both directions. . . . A salutary case study in how trust and cooperation can turn a big problem into no problem.-BooklistBased on true events, the author creates a picture of a small town that supports and trusts one another. . . A combination of birds-eye and close-up illustrations depict the expressions of the people and provide glimpses of the local island life. The rhyming and rhythmic text will engage readers and make them excited to see what happens next.-School Library ConnectionIn Chris Van Dusen’s distinctive illustrations, everything has a smooth, sugar-glazed look, as if his pictures were made of frosted cookies that you could eat. . . . The story Mr. Van Dusen shows and tells in ‘Big Truck, Little Island’ is perhaps his sweetest yet. . . . The solution has a charming element of cut-the-Gordian-knot surprise in this beautifully well-balanced tale for readers ages 4-8.-The Wall Street JournalThe humorous singsong text (‘the truck trundled off. It bucked up the bridge with a wheeze and a cough’) and the droll illustrations (including a birds-eye view of the island) make this a winner for the target age group.-The Buffalo News About the Author Chris Van Dusen is the author-illustrator of Hattie & Hudson, Randy Rileys Really Big Hit, King Hugos Huge Ego, The Circus Ship. -Titulo Original : The Black Friend On Being A Better White Person-Fabricante : Candlewick-Descripcion Original: “A hard-hitting resource for action and change.” -Booklist (starred review) “We don’t see color.” “I didn’t know Black people liked Star Wars!” “What hood are you from?” As a student in a largely white high school, Frederick Joseph often simply let wince-worthy moments go. When he grew older, he saw them as missed opportunities to stand up for himself and bring awareness to those who didn’t see the hurt they caused. Here,Joseph speaks to the reader as he wishes he’d spoken to his friends, unpacking hurtful race-related anecdotes from his past and sharing how he might handle things differently now. Each chapter also features the voice and experience of an artist or activist, including Angie Thomas, author of The Hate U Give; April Reign, creator of #OscarsSoWhite; and Jemele Hill, sports journalist and podcast host. From cultural appropriation to power dynamics, “reverse racism” to white privilege, this book is a conversation starter, tool kit, and window into the life of a former “token Black kid.” Back matter includes an encyclopedia of racism, including details on historical events and terminology. Review For young white people who want to be better, who want to be anti-racist, who want to be people who are striving to recognize and even take down the structures of racism.- Ibram X. Kendi, author of Stamped from the Beginning, on NPR’s Morning EditionWith clear, powerful prose and a gentle dose of humor, The Black Friend is essential reading for anyone wishing to be part of a better world. I absolutely loved this book.-Julie Klam, New York Times best-selling authorThe Black Friend is THE book everyone needs to read right now. Frederick Joseph has written an essential window into the movement toward anti-racism. Read it, absorb it, and be changed because of it.-Angie Thomas, author of The Hate U GiveFor every white person who ever wanted to do better, inside this book, Frederick Joseph offers you both the tools and the chance.-Jacqueline Woodson, Winner of the Hans Christian Andersen AwardToward the end of The Black Friend, Frederick Joseph writes that his book is ‘a gift, not an obligation.’ I respectfully disagree. This book should be an obligation for white people, especially white parents, because we must raise anti-racist kids who will never be perpetrators of or bystanders to white supremacy and who will never mistake tolerance or appropriation for respect. Don’t skip the painful parts-read every word.-Chelsea Clinton, author, advocate, and vice chair of the Clinton FoundationTypically, books on being an antiracist methodically walk readers through systemic racism and its related terminology, but Joseph takes a more personal, and perhaps more effective, approach, sharing stories from his time in school and college to provide cultural history and opportunities for reflection...To reinforce many of his points, Joseph includes interviews with writers, activists, and other influencers from multiple intersections. Finally, he calls on white people to become active accomplices, rather than passive allies, in the fight. Readers can find more explanations of terms and movements in the concluding “Encyclopedia of Racism,” as well as a “The Black Friend Playlist” and People and Things to Know roster. A hard-hitting resource for action and change.-Booklist (starred review)Gearing this volume toward white people “who want to be better,” Joseph offers anecdotes about his experiences with racism and white supremacy...Interviews with author Angie Thomas, journalist Jemele Hill, and others contribute discussions on the problem with “color blindness” and the importance of personal growth, among various topics.
